Society: Virginia-Piedmont Genealogical

     Organized in April 1978, the VA-NC Piedmont Genealogical Society is a non-profit educational society that has as its purpose to preserve and share with persons having interest in the Virginia counties of Franklin, Henry, Pittsylvania, and Halifax; the North Carolina counties of Rockingham, Caswell, and Person; and other such Virginia and North Carolina information pertinent to these counties and their inhabitants. 

     The Society maintains and staffs a Search Room adjacent to the Genealogy Room at the Danville Public Library. Holdings available in the Search Room include a collection of over 5000 books, early maps, microfilm, microfiche, journals and newsletters from genealogical societies in over 20 states, local cemetery and funeral home records, obituaries, city directories from 1878, etc.

Membership is open to all individuals, families, libraries, and societies. Members receive Piedmont Lineages which is published quarterly. 

The Society meets the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM on the top floor of the Danville Public Library. Visitors are welcome.
