Louisa County is a family history goldmine (download Genealogy Brochure) and people from all across the nation find they have roots here. Our courthouse records alone date back to 1742 and the historical society has been gathering materials on local and family history for over 40 years. Both the Sargeant Museum and the Louisa County Public Library contain a complete set of the society's magazines and copies of published books on local history. If you are planning a visit to Louisa County and need help guiding your search, we welcome you to contact us . Also, several of our local genealogy experts monitor the Louisa County Rootsweb site where you are welcome to post your queries.
We are consolidating our regional databases into a single repository. This will allow us to better present regional data alongside our projects and specifically the library materials, papers, photos, and postcards that we would like to get back to their descendants.
