  3. The Sutton Museum is the home of the Sutton Historical Society and is dedicated to the collection and preservation of historic artifacts and information about the Sutton, Nebraska community. The objective of the Sutton Historical Society is to collect and preserve the artifacts and information about the Sutton, Nebraska community. That’s a carefully worded statement that directs us to find and save things that are part of Sutton’s history and to find and record the story of Sutton’s past. The Museum has accumulated a respectable collection of Sutton related items, most donated by generous people who decided a valued item would be enjoyed by more if it were displayed in a publicly accessible place rather than remain where only a few even know about it. It’s an on-going program. We’re currently expecting two more very nice items. http://suttonhistoricalsociety.blogspot.com/ View full record
  4. The Clay County Museum is housed in the former Clay Center Hospital building constructed in 1925. The structure served as a nursing home before it became the location of the museum in 1975. If you look to the left underneath 'In this section' you will see two forms that you may want to fill out. By filling out the Clay County Birth form, you will help improve our records of people born in Clay County. The House Survey of Clay County form is similar but pertains to houses and the people who lived in them. https://www.claycountykansas.org/government/clay-county-museum 2121 7th St Clay Center, KS 67432 785-632-3786 ccmuseum@twinvalley.net We are open to the public: Tuesday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. View full record
  5. The Union Cemetery Historical Society (UCHS) was organized in 1984 under the guidance of the Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department. Its original purpose was to collect data about historic Union Cemetery and to gather biographical information about the people buried here. As a result of those efforts, the UCHS published “Tombstone Inscriptions” in 1986, a hard-bound book that lists many of those who rest in the cemetery. The UCHS also published a series of 10 pamphlets containing collections of obituaries and biographical sketches gathered mostly from microfilm copies of old newspapers. In some cases these death notices and/or obituaries are the only records we have of individuals buried in Union Cemetery. The files in the Sexton’s cottage provide access to the cemetery burials. They contain a wealth of genealogical and biographical information collected my members of the UCHS and/or donated by visitors. The society’s mission has expanded over the years to include partnering with the KCMO Parks and Recreation Department to preserve and protect Union Cemetery’s grounds as well as its records. To this end the UCHS has overseen tree planting, headstone restoration and re-setting and fund raising to enhance the beauty and security of the cemetery. The society also provides guided and self-guided tours of the cemetery as well as speakers for civic and other organizations in the Kansas City area. http://www.uchskc.or...-union-cemetery If you have a genealogy question, would like to know Sexton cottage hours of operation, become a member of the UCHS, or to volunteer to help the UCHS in its mission to preserve and protect Union Cemetery for future generations, please call 816-472-4990. Welcome to Clay SD

We created this page to display county information for each state. Our team is engaged in building out the content to populate this page, sharing genealogy and history information. In the near future, we will be adding our library records which contain Books, Newspapers, Photos, Postcards, and other unique materials. Some of these are being presented to connect descendants with their family heirlooms (postcards, journals, Bibles). These library records will also be useful to those wanting assistance in finding an entry for their ancestors; we will perform "lookups" as time permits. If you have suggestions for content or basic input on the website, send us a message. We would be happy to incorporate your ideas. As we continue to populate this page, it should become more useful in your research so please check back soon! View full record
