  3. The Southwest Florida Historical Society (SWFLHS) was established in 1960 by a group of citizens to “preserve the history of our area”. In 1983 the SWFLHS received as a gift a building that was destined to be demolished by the City for a new parking lot. Harper Brothers Construction donated the building and Flint and Doyle was contracted to move the building to the campus of the Lee County Alliance of the Arts. Siting the building to its current location on the Alliance property was completed and renovations started to bring the building up to City and County Building Codes. In 1984 the SWFLHS received its Articles of Incorporation with the following purpose: “The mission of the society is to discover, collect and preserve original and source documents, maps and photographs pertaining to the history of SW Florida. To bring together those interested in the history of this area; to promote and stimulate public interest and appreciation of the history of this area; and to further the preservation and knowledge of Southwest Florida's past.” http://www.swflhistoricalsociety.org/
  4. The CCHC Society is a local non-profit organization now known fondly as the “Society,” and is our fundraising arm which provides thousands of dollars annually toward our CCHC Society program budget. Over 300 member households enjoy reduced fees for many educational programs, invitations to special events, and free admission at 300 other museums worldwide. The CCHC Society's purpose is (1) to further the historical and educational programs and purposes of the Historical Center; (2) to raise and receive funds for the benefit of the Historical Center and its programs; (3) to organize volunteers to meet the goals of CCHC Society; and (4) to promote and encourage public interest in and support for the Historical Center and its programs. https://www.charlottecountyfl.gov/services/historical/Pages/CCHC_Society.aspx
  5. We created this page to display county information for each state. Our team is engaged in building out the content to populate this page, sharing genealogy and history information. In the near future, we will be adding our library records which contain Books, Newspapers, Photos, Postcards, and other unique materials. Some of these are being presented to connect descendants with their family heirlooms (postcards, journals, Bibles). These library records will also be useful to those wanting assistance in finding an entry for their ancestors; we will perform "lookups" as time permits. If you have suggestions for content or basic input on the website, send us a message. We would be happy to incorporate your ideas. As we continue to populate this page, it should become more useful in your research so please check back soon!
