  1. We are the St. Petersburg Sons of the American Revolution Chapter, founded in 1928, as the third oldest chapter in Florida. It is our mission to inspire the citizens of St. Petersburg and Pinellas County in patriotic service for our country, promote the objectives of SAR, and work to preserve American freedom. If you share these goals we encourage you to visit us at our upcoming events. https://stpetesar.org/
  2. The Clearwater Chapter of the Florida Society of the Sons of the American Revolution was chartered on December 10, 1951 by sixteen compatriots with Frederick Kuhn Woodring as the first Chapter President. President Woodring died the following year and in his memory a gavel was presented to the Chapter. Each year, the Woodring Gavel is presented to the incoming Chapter President and is used by the newly installed officers of the Chapter at the installation ceremony. https://clearwatersar.org/ The Clearwater Chapter has grown over the years to one of the largest chapters in the State of Florida with well over one hundred members. In recent years it is the second largest chapter in the state with members residing in all over the nation in twenty different states from Massachusetts to Hawaii and as far north as Alaska and recently, even one member in Switzerland – thus reflecting family and member dispersal. Of the total membership approximately two-thirds are military veterans The Chapter meets monthly – normally the third Wednesday of the month except for the summer months of June, July, and August.
  3. We created this page to display county information for each state. Our team is engaged in building out the content to populate this page, sharing genealogy and history information. In the near future, we will be adding our library records which contain Books, Newspapers, Photos, Postcards, and other unique materials. Some of these are being presented to connect descendants with their family heirlooms (postcards, journals, Bibles). These library records will also be useful to those wanting assistance in finding an entry for their ancestors; we will perform "lookups" as time permits. If you have suggestions for content or basic input on the website, send us a message. We would be happy to incorporate your ideas. As we continue to populate this page, it should become more useful in your research so please check back soon!
